In 1966, when Australia converted to decimal currency, a cup of coffee cost 35 cents. It’s now $3.50. So, in the next 60 years, it’s likely be $35.00 a cup. That’s just history.

That is, unless we wake up to ourselves to kill off the inflation that devalues our dollar and causes socio-economic mayhem.

Experiencing this high cost-of-living, the world’s now blaming wars in Ukraine and the Middle East for inflation. Although the wars certainly don’t help, that’s not the main reason. It’s the escalation in our land prices.

That’s not an orthodox opinion with economists, but it’s correct.

We don’t get to hear about it, because it upsets politically powerful interests–such as banking, real estate and mainstream media–to speak home truths. And neoclassically-trained economists are onside with status quo.

So, onward we roll – with continuing poverty, dispossession and $35.00 coffees.
