It is amazing that back in 1894 the newspapers could identify the legalized theft that is egregious, private sector appropriate of ground/economic rent & 120 years later, we are still arguing about raising taxes upon labour in order to solve budgetary woes, when the 1% should be stung with a substantial land and resources rent tax.
Moreover, a land tax will drive prices DOWN and bring it back within reach of the 99% who are deliberately being shut out of the market by foul investor and FIRE sector interests.
This fraud of a democracy (the Laberals) means that substantive change is highly unlikely, due to their capture by vested interests. Thus, either significant political reform (preferably the Swiss democratic model) is required, or major education of the people to vote anyone but the Laberals who are rotten to the core.
