THE GREATEST HUMAN RIGHT

MY PREAMBLE TO THE AUSTRALIAN CONSTITUTION

“Acknowledging the first peoples’ understanding that our land and natural resources are common property, we the citizens of Australia declare the income therefrom to be the commonwealth owed equally to all: the natural source of revenue for the nation.

We further declare that all arbitrary tax imposts upon labour, thrift and industry be gradually abolished in order to introduce this proper revenue source to the nation.

We also hold the pursuit of happiness for all is impossible  unless we thus acknowledge the earth to be the birthright of all people – and that purported bills of human rights make no sense at all without this primary adjustment.”

  1. Good effort.

Of course, being fundamentally fair, socially equitable, efficient, rewarding innovation etc it has zero chance of being implemented.

If one is in any doubt, consider for a moment Australia’s current treasurer/PM combo who are manning the ramparts of ‘residential fortress Australia’ to protect baby boomer housing (land) wealth at all costs:

“Rising house prices actually help to make marginal property development viable. And there is a shortage of supply out there and what this will do is make supply more readily available” Mr Hockey said.

“Don’t forget … if housing prices go up, sure that makes it harder to get into the market, but it also means that everyone who is in the market has a more valuable asset,” Mr Abbot said…

If the clown duo think high land prices and enriching the landed gentry at the expense of the broader community will magically draw out more lemmings into the housing meat grinder and boost the economy, then they are even more deluded and beholden to vested interests than I thought.
